Essar's oil refinery at Vadinar in Jamnagar, Gujarat is located in India's West Coast. Vadinar is an all-weather deep-draft natural port. More than 60% of India's crude imports land in and around this region.
Essar Oil's Refinery has a capacity of processing 10.5 million tonnes of crude per annum (10.5 MTPA) with an investment of close to Rs. 100 Billion (USD 2.2 billion). After a lot of hurdles in the initial stages, the refinery declared a 10.5 million tonne production in May, 2008.
The refinery is fully integrated with its own captive power plant, port and terminal facilities. It includes a Single Point Mooring (SPM), rail -car and truck loading facilities.
