Holmes' Essential Selection guest slot from BBC Radio One is a double-disc set with room for plenty of soul chestnuts (Marlena Shaw, James Brown, the Googie Rene Combo, Rare Earth), several tracks so square they're hip (Percy Faith, Don Sebesky, Brigitte Bardot, Ananda Shankar), plus a few "standard" choices including tracks by Plaid, Skylab, Jurassic 5 and Holmes himself.
