This studio wants nothing more than to be a gem. EUE Screen Gems (not to be confused with Screen Gems) produces commercials, TV shows, and movies. Its commercial division has produced ads for AT&T, Coca-Cola, and General Motors. The company has production stages in New York City and North Carolina. The studio has been home to TV shows such as One Tree Hill, Dawson's Creek, and Matlock, and its film credits include Nights in Rodanthe and The Secret Life of Bees. EUE Screen Gems also has a stake in independent movie studio First Look Media. The company was founded in 1948 by directors and brothers Mike and Steve Elliot, and was bought by Columbia Pictures in the 1960s. It became an independent entity in 1984.
