Biography

During the mid-'30s, Eugène Lourié was among the best art directors in French cinema and is best known for his collaborations with Jean Renoir. Later when Renoir moved to Hollywood in 1941, Lourié followed and subsequently worked with such directors as Ophuls, Siodmak, Sam Fuller, and even Chaplin. During the 1950s, Lourié directed a few sci-fi films that were noted for their many special effects.
