Eva Trout

Eva Trout (1969), Elizabeth Bowen's last novel, on the theme of innocence and corruption. After an orphaned childhood and an irregular upbringing, Eva forms an attachment to her boarding-school teacher, acquires a deaf-mute child by illegal means, and trails around America. The child kills Eva with a revolver left in the luggage.
