In 1971 it was purchased by the Burton group, now known as Arcadia Group who own Burton and Dorothy Perkins.
It is a leading plus-size womenswear retailer, specializing in sizes 14 to 32. It is popular with the larger ladies of the United Kingdom, as it offers a wide variety of clothing and styles at quite cheap prices.
The stores are usually on the same principles as every other store, with shoes, and Accessories at the back of the store, and clothes at the front of the store.
Evans has stores all over the country including England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. (a full list of stores can be found here [1]). Evans also deliver to the USA, but only over the internet.
