Law Dictionary: Excusable Neglect

The failure to perform a required act, usually procedural in nature, because of unusual circumstances. 477 P. 2d 903, 906. The party failing to perform the act is usually given the opportunity by the court to cure his neglect. See, for example, Fed. R. Civil Proc. 6(b).
