Plot

Vincento Perez (Wyndham Standing) is the cruel chief justice of a Portuguese colony; his wife Claudia (Madame Olga Petrova), on the other hand, works with the poor. Perez attempts to corner the silk trade by getting rid of the leading merchant with a trumped-up murder charge. He tries to enlist the aid of American engineer Richmond Hervey (Mahlon Hamilton), but instead Hervey threatens to show Perez's incriminating letter to the governor. Perez sends Claudia to Hervey with instructions to get the letter back by any means. Through this meeting, Hervey and Claudia discover that they are in love with each other. There is a revolt and the people lynch Perez, while Hervey saves Claudia. ~ Janiss Garza, All Movie Guide
