eye movement analysis

Marketing Dictionary: eye movement analysis

Tracking the movement of a research subject's eyes over advertising copy, or other images, to measure the level of attention and the sequence in which attention is paid to various components. Eye movement analysis is done with a camera designed for that purpose and requires a laboratory environment, which makes it a somewhat restrictive and artificial technique. Eye movement analysis assumes the subject will attend more to pleasing images than to unpleasant images. See also galvanic skin response.
