(engineering) A detachable wraparound guard fitted to a worker's helmet to protect the face from flying particles.
A type of protective eyewear sometimes used by oral healthcare workers in place of safety glasses. Although intended to cover the face completely for high-spatter treatments such as polishing and scaling, they may have limited impact resistance and should not be considered a replacement for protective breathing masks.
Face shield refers to a variety of devices used to protect a medical professional during a procedure that might expose the worker to blood or other potentially infectious fluid. An example is the use of a CPR mask while performing Rescue breathing or CPR. Another example is the use of Personal Protective Equipment to guard the face against splashing, spraying or splattering of blood or other potentially infectious materials.
