As a maker of recreational vehicles as well as manufactured housing, Fairmont Homes puts the mobile in mobile homes. The company produces more than 400 different single- and multi-section homes under the Fairmont, Friendship, and Century brands. Its homes, which range in size from from less than 800 sq. ft. to more than 2,300 sq. ft., are sold through retailers mainly in the midwestern and northeastern US. The company's parts and accessories suppliers include Moen (bathroom fixtures), Pella (windows), and Whirlpool (appliances). James Shea Sr. started Fairmont Homes in 1971 and established subsidiary Gulf Stream Coach, a builder of RVs, in 1983.
