- This is a Chinese name; the family name is Fan (樊).
Fan Chou (d.195) was a general from the late Eastern Han Dynasty under the tyrannical warlord Dong Zhuo.
After Dong Zhuo died by his adoptive son Lu Bu by an assassination plot by Wang Yun. He along with Li Jue, Guo Si, and Zhang Ji defeated Lu Bu then defeated Wang Yun, which they taken over Chang'an and the young Han Emperor, Liu Xie. Once Li Jue and Guo Si wanted to kill the Emperor, but Fan Chou and Zhang Ji calmed them down, saying that they should control the Emperor like Dong Zhuo did.
Later, he enjoyed successes when Ma Teng and Han Sui attacked Chang'an, but on one occasion he allowed Han Sui, his fellow townsman, to go unharmed and talked amiably with him. When Li Jue knew of this, he had Fan Chou executed.
