Farmoor

Wikipedia: Farmoor

Farmoor is a small village in Oxfordshire, situated 4.2 miles west of Oxford city centre. (grid reference SP450070)

The village is part of Cumnor civil parish, in the Vale of White Horse district. Farmoor has a village church, village stores, service station, Farmoor Reservoir, Nature Reserve and Pinkhill Lock on the River Thames. Also it has a small business park called Farmoor Court. In 1974 it was transferred from Berkshire.

Historically, the area was known as the tything of Stroud. Farmoor Common was an open field within the tything, now under the reservoir.[1]. When the village was developed in the early years of the twentieth century, it took its name from the Common.

The Oaken Holt Rest Home , Eynsham Road, Farmoor was the location used for the 1990s BBC TV sitcom Waiting for God.[2]
