Fathollah Mojtabaei (born 1921 in Tehran, Iran) is a notable Persian Indologist and Iranologist.

Fathollah Mojtabaei holds a bachelor degree in English literature from Tehran University, a master's degree in comparative studies on religions from Harvard University, and a PhD degree in "history and philosophy of eastern religions" from Harvard University.

Prof Fathollah Mojtabaei also studied "religions and comparative studies on Erfan" at Tehran University and received a doctorate degree in this field.

His research works on Indology and Iranology showed a different view of the field than the work of western researchers in these areas. He has written numerous articles and books and also taught at Tehran University.

Fathollah Mojtabaei was also a director at the department of religions of the faculty of theology at Tehran University. He is a permanent member of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature.
