Favrskov is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Region Midtjylland in Denmark just north of Aarhus and is a part of the Aarhus area. It covers an area of 487 km² and a total population of ca. 45,604 (2008).
The municipality is also a part of the East Jutland metropolitan area whit 1,2 mio inhabitants. [1].
On January 1, 2007 Favrskov municipality was created as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Hadsten, Hammel, Hinnerup, and Hvorslev, as well as the southern part of the former Langå municipality.
According to Danmark Statistiks, from 2005 to 2009, this is the third fastest growing municipality out of the 98.
