Father of Deirdre and chief storyteller of Conchobar mac Nessa in Longas mac nUislenn [The Exile of the Sons of Uisnech]. When Deirdre was born Conchobar's chief druid, Cathbad, foretold that she would be seen as the fairest of women in Ireland but would bring death and ruin upon Ulster.
