The section of a control system that allows for feedback and self-correction and that adjusts its operation according to differences between the actual output and the desired output.

A closed transmission path (loop) that includes an active transducer and consists of a forward path, a feedback path, and one or more mixing points arranged to maintain a prescribed relationship between the loop input and output signals. See feedback (iii).
