Vol. 3 in this 14-CD series has the complete recordings of Marie Bradley, Kitty Brown, Josephine Byrd, and Alice Carter. Bradley, who was best-known for her moaning and falsetto singing (particularly on two versions of "Down Home Moan"), is the most interesting of the four vocalists although apparently Josephine Byrd (who only recorded two numbers in her career) was well-known in theatres in the Midwest during the 1920s. Among the sidemen (most of whom are unidentified) who are heard from on this interesting CD are pianists Will Ezell, Freddie Longshaw, and possibly Tiny Parham. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
