Pertaining to or emanating from fibrinolysis.

  • f. agent — substances that stimulate or inhibit fibrinolysis.
  • f. inhibitors — include ε-aminocaproic acid and antiplasmin-α1.
  • f. mechanism — an ordered sequence of interactions between an enzyme and a cofactor on a specific substrate; the components of the process include plasminogen, tissue plasminogen activator, urokinase and kallikrein.
  • f. stimulators — includes hormones (e.g. corticosteroids), enzymes (e.g. streptokinase) and others such as epinephrine.
  • f. system tests — ways of examining the system include clot lysis time, euglobulin lysis time, fibrin plate test.
