A lesion that resembles a benign neoplasm and shows fibroblastic and epithelial proliferation. Such lesions occur in regions of cheek chewing or other trauma. Because they are not true neoplasms, they may be better designated as irritation fibroses or fibrous hyperplasias.

A papilloma containing a conspicuous amount of fibrous connective tissue at the base.
