Biography

The instrumental hip-hop duo of DJ Peter Parker and bassist Sneaky started performing as Fingathing in 1999. Peter Parker was a bedroom DJ discovered by Mark Rae of trip-hoppers Rae & Christian at a DMC competition in 1997; Sneaky -- a classically trained bassist -- was working in a popular Manchester club when the pair met. Their first full-length, Main Event, was issued in 2000 on Rae's Grand Central label. Fingathing are an instrumental Nu jazz / hip-hop band from Manchester, UK, comprising classically trained Double bass player Sneaky and DJ / turntablist Peter Parker.

History

Parker was a finalist at the UK DMC DJ Championship, where Mark Rae was on the judging panel. Parker later met Rae at the Fat City Records store in Manchester and was asked to audition for the Rae & Christian live backing band. Parker performed along with Sneaky for Rae & Christian, before teaming up as a pair. The band were signed to Rae's Grand Central Records in the UK (sub-contracted to Ninja Tune in the US), and have released 3 studio albums plus a "Best of" compilation. The band's album and single sleeves contain distinctive cartoon drawings by Chris Drury.

  • Peter Parker released a limited edition DJ mix CD called Life After Death Mix.
  • DJ Sneaky has also released two 100-issue limited edition mix CDs entitled Biscuit Mix and Bloody Axe Mix.
  • DJ Sneaky - Feel Like A King EP (04 January, 2008)
  • In January 2008, Sneaky also announced the release of his first album of original solo material, entitled Feel Like A King... Pluck A String.
