| US Military Dictionary: fire for effect |
1. fire that is delivered after the mean point of impact or burst is within the desired distance of the target or adjusting/ranging point.
2. in a call for fire, a term used to indicate that the adjustment/ranging is satisfactory and that fire for effect is desired.
