Plot

In this short drama from writer and director Daniel Eduvijes Carrera, Eleuterio is a young Mexican boy from a poor and broken family. Eleuterio has become a petty thief in order to feed himself and his mother, but events conspire to show him how cruel both fate and the local Catholic Church can truly be. Primera Communion (aka First Communion) was shot on location in Atlatlahucan, Morelos, Mexico, using a primarily non-professional cast, and was honored as Best Narrative Short Subject at the 2007 Cine Las Americas Festival in Austin, Texas. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
