Biography

Centered around Italian pianist Luigi Bonafede, the modern jazz ensemble Five for Jazz was formed in 1984 as a touring group for Bonafede. Over the years the band has featured a number of musicians including altoist Massimo Urbani, tenorman Pietro Tonolo, bassist Piero Leveratto, and drummer Paolo Pellegatti, as well as tenor saxophonist Emanuele Cisi and trumpeter Flavio Boltro. Five for Jazz released a debut performance album Live in Sanremo and in Pesaro in 1984 and Soulscape in 1996. ~ Matt Collar, All Music Guide
