The present interglacial, which is the most recent of the Quaternary Ice Age. During this time, there has been a global rise in sea level known as the Flandrian transgression due to the melting of ice sheets and glaciers. The Flandrian is divided into the pre-Boreal, Boreal, and Atlantic. See pleistocene chronology.
