The Flores Sea covers 93,000 square miles (240,000 square kilometres) of water in Indonesia.
The seas that border the Flores Sea are the Java Sea (to the west), Banda Sea (to the east), and the Savu Sea (to the southwest).
The Makassar Strait lies to the northwest, and the Gulf of Bone and South Sulawesi lies to the north.
The Indian Ocean lies to the south but the Flores sea is separated from it by various Islands. The straits between the islands connect with the ocean - such as Sapi Strait.
Islands that border this sea are the Lesser Sunda Islands and Celebes (Sulawesi).
Islands identifiable in the NASA link below are the Selayar Islands of: Tanahjampea, Boneogeh, Bonerate, Kalaotoa.
