Focal Press is a publisher of media technology books and it is an imprint of Elsevier. It was founded in 1938 by Andor Kraszna-Krausz[1], a Hungarian photographer who immigrated to England in 1937 and eventually published over 1,200 books on photography.

Focal Press continues to be a leading[citation needed] publisher in photography and have expanded their topics to include film, television, audio, animation, 3d animation, theatre, broadcasting, gaming, visual effects, and motion graphics. They operate offices in Burlington, MA in the USA and Oxford, England in the UK.

Among their biggest selling titles are Light — Science & Magic (Hunter et al.), Adobe Photoshop CS3 for Photographers (Evening), Langford's Basic Photography (Langford et al.), Modern Recording Technqiues (Huber) and they are also the official publishers for Autodesk 3ds Max books.
