To throw one's hand away. This is usually a result of cards with no potential to win or another players bet or raise. This can be done by throwing your cards face down into the muck pile, or saying "fold" and placing your cards in front of you.
SoundPoker Says: Folding is usually done due to the lack of strength in your hand. There's no shame in folding, in most poker games each hand doesn't last longer than a couple of minutes. Most great players will tell you that being patient and knowing when to fold is one virtue of being a great poker player.
