Folk Music Journal

English Folklore: Folk Music Journal

Annual journal of the English Folk Dance and Song Society from 1965, replacing the Journal of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, and the leading British vehicle for the serious discussion of folksong, music, and dance material. Successively edited by Dr Russell Wortley (1965-71), Michael Yates (1972-80), Dr Ian Russell (1981-93), Dr Julia Bishop (1994-7), and Michael Heaney (1997-  ). The contents of the Folk Music Journal reflect a move away from the collectanea approach of its predecessors towards more scholarly articles and reviews; a trend which still continues.
