The Spanish building giant with a flamboyant past, Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas (FCC) is one of Spain's largest construction groups. Its many companies build and engineer the infrastructure of modern cities: highways, airports, dams, harbors, railways, and oil and gas pipelines. It is also engaged in infrastructure maintenance, water purification, residential and commercial building, and toll road and tunnel concessions. Although construction is its biggest single segment, half of FCC's revenues come from urban sanitation, cement production, real estate, and logistics. Esther Koplowitz, daughter of the group's founder, controls FCC.
