The Football Writers' Association (the FWA) is an association of England football journalists and correspondents writing for newspapers and agencies, founded in 1947.
Every year the FWA presents the Footballer of the Year award to the best player of the year, and the Tribute Award award to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the game. The main award, the Footballer of the Year, is seen as one of the two most prestigious prizes in English football, alongside the PFA Players' Player of the Year award.
