Automobile devotees can look away, maybe. Ford Models is not about selling F150s and Mustangs, but about representing supermodels such as Vendela, Stephanie Seymour, Rachel Hunter, Christie Brinkley, and Veronica Webb. Founded in 1964 by Eileen and Jerry Ford, the agency established a reputation for providing a caring, parental environment for its models (Eileen and Jerry often invited younger models into their own home and acted as surrogate guardians). The company hosts an annual Ford Supermodel of the World Contest that attracts more than 60,000 applicants from around the world. The founding Ford family sold an equity stake in Ford Models to Stone Tower Equity Partners in late 2007.
