forefoot valgus

Condition in which the metatarsals have an eversion misalignment (see eversion of foot); the first two metatarsals are in a more plantar flexed position than the third to fifth metatarsals. Forefoot valgus can cause compensatory misalignments in other joints, particularly inversion of the subtalar joint during weight-bearing. Orthotics may be used to treat the condition.
