In measurements of reaction time, the interval between the warning signal and the presentation of a stimulus to which the subject is expected to respond. It also refers to the period between a ‘get set’ command or signal and a ‘go’ at the start of a race. The duration and predictability of the foreperiod greatly influence reaction times.
