Biography

Dallas, TX-based Forever the Sickest Kids got an unexpected break early on when, only a few days after forming and with zero songs to their name, lead singer Jonathan Cook inadvertently spent several hundred dollars for front-page song placement on the popular music website PureVolume, forcing the band to hurriedly pound out a track so as not to waste the money it didn't even have. The local bands Ben Bradley and the Flipside had stalled out near the end of 2006, and various members from each group had only just formed Forever the Sickest Kids together, but they took on the challenge and quickly got to work. The emo-power-pop-rock song "Hey Brittney" resulted in just two days time and wound up garnering considerable attention for the very green band, which was rounded out by Austin Bello (bass, vocals), Caleb Turman (guitar/vocals), Kent Garrison (keyboards), and stepbrothers Kyle Burns (drums) and Marc Stewart (guitar).

So lucky were Forever the Sickest Kids that several major labels soon came knocking, and the band ultimately scored a deal with Universal Motown. The five-song EP Television Off, Party On appeared in 2007 -- recorded within four months of being a band -- and nationwide touring followed its release, including three weeks on a Warped Tour side stage. Their fan base and song arsenal slowly expanded, and Forever the Sickest Kids had themselves a full-length album, Underdog Alma Mater, less than a year later, which was released in late April 2008. Time was spent surrounding the release on the road with an Alternative Press magazine-sponsored tour that featured other bands like All Time Low, the Rocket Summer, and the Matches. After extensive touring, the band decided to release a series of three EPs. The first in the series, The Weekend: Friday, was released in November of 2009. ~ Corey AparPureVolume, forcing the band to hurriedly pound out a track so as not to waste the money it didn't even have. History

Formation and Underdog Alma Mater (2006-2008)

Marc Stewart (guitar) and Kyle Burns (drums) are step brothers.[5] Stewart met Kent Garrison (keyboard) in high school. Then, when Garrison went to college, he met up with Jonathan Cook (vocals) and Austin Bello (bass guitar). For a while, Bello played with Caleb Turman in a band called Been Bradley,[6] while the others played in a band called The Flipside. In late 2006, both of those groups reached a creative standstill, and the band was officially formed.

While browsing PureVolume, lead singer Jonathan Cook accidentally spent $350 that the band didn't have to receive a front page placement of a song that they also didn't have. For this reason, they went into the studio and wrote "Hey Brittany", then recorded it with their producer Geoff Rockwell in a matter of days. Since it was first posted, "Hey Brittany" has garnered many Internet plays and triggered a bidding war among eight labels.[citation needed] On April 24, 2007, Universal Motown emerged victorious, and released the band's Television Off, Party On EP on July 3. The releases of The Sickest Warped Tour EP and the Hot Party Jamz EP would soon follow.[citation needed]

The band's first single, "Whoa Oh! (Me vs. Everyone)", was released on April 20, 2008. Their debut album Underdog Alma Mater was later released on April 29. The band supported All Time Low and The Rocket Summer on the 2008 Alternative Press tour from March 14 to May 2. The band played with Metro Station, The Cab, Danger Radio, and The Maine on their first headlining tour, and later performed on the 2008 Vans Warped Tour. They appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien on June 12 performing their single "Whoa Oh! (Me vs. Everyone)". Their second single, "She's a Lady" was released on July 14. The band headed to Tokyo, Japan to perform at the annual Summer Sonic Festival. In late September, the band undertook a brief headlining tour in the UK, after Cobra Starship, the original headliners, post-poned their tour. The band also held the Sassy Back tour throughout October and November with Cobra Starship, Hit the Lights, and Sing it Loud.

Underdog Alma Mater Deluxe Edition (2009)

In June 2008, it was announced that the band's debut studio album, Underdog Alma Mater, would be re-released as a deluxe edition on July 7, 2009. This new release will feature the original songs, plus 17 previously unreleased tracks, including demos and acoustic songs.

On April 26, 2009, members of Forever the Sickest Kids, We the Kings, and several other people were injured in an incident with the Philadelphia Police Department at the Theatre of the Living Arts, a venue the bands played at on the Bamboozle Road Tour. Travis Clark of We the Kings said, "Philadelphia cops just beat us up for nothing!"[7]

The band also played at the Vans Warped Tour 2009 from July 22 to August 23.

On November 17, 2009, they brought out the first of three EPs (Collection called 3P) called The Weekend, Part 1: Friday. A clip of the song 'She Likes' is on their Myspace and on YouTube. The full song 'She Likes' was released on their Myspace on the 16th October.

On November 12, 2009, FTSK released Their new EP The Weekend, Part 1: Friday" for streaming on their myspace page.

On November 26, 2009, they performed in the Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers half time show singing "Dancing in the Street".
