US Military Dictionary: Formosa Resolution

An act of Congress passed in 1955 that authorized the use of force if China invaded Taiwan. It arose in response to sporadic fighting between the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC) forces that threatened to escalate.
