Fort Churchill State Historic Park is a 4,461 acre Nevada state park in Lyon County, Nevada, in the United States. Located south of the town of Silver Springs, it is in the Central Nevada Region of Nevada State Parks.
The park contains Fort Churchill which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is one of seven National Historic Landmarks in the state of Nevada.
The site is one end of the historic Fort Churchill and Sand Springs Toll Road.
Fort Churchill, named for Sylvester Churchill, was a U.S. Army fort built in 1861 to provide protection for early settlers. It was abandoned in 1869 with the State of Nevada obtaining control of the site on October 6, 1932.
It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961.[1][3] The remains of the fort are decaying adobe ruins.
Twice a year the Nevada Civil War Volunteers puts on a civil war encampment at Fort Churchill.
It is located on United States Route 95A, 8 miles south of United States Route 50.
