Foxley Wood, close by, is a site of special scientific interest and the largest remaining area of ancient woodland in Norfolk, England. It is thought to be over 6000 years old dating from the end of the last ice age. See the English Nature website for more information. http://www.english-nature.org.uk/special/nnr/nnr_details.asp?NNR_ID=257. A leaflet and map for a circular walk including Foxley Wood from the adjacent village of Bawdeswell is available on the local website http://bawdeswell.net/leaflets/index.htm.
