Dolto, Françoise, née Marette (1908-88). French childhood analyst whose Psychanalyse et pédiatrie (1939), Le Cas Dominique (1971), and the celebrated Lorsque l'enfant paraît (1977) influenced a generation of practitioners and parents. A sometime member of the Société Psychanalytique de Paris and Lacan's École Freudienne, she also wrote on psychoanalysis and religion, female sexuality, and a remarkable Autoportrait (1988).
