Chit, Francis (Khun Sunthornsathitsalak; 1830-91), Thai Christian court photographer of King Rama IV (or Mongkut, reg. 1851-68) and possibly his successor, Rama V (1868-1910). His Bangkok studio, started in 1863, was later taken over by his son under the same name. Chit's large panoramas of Bangkok form a unique record of the capital's architecture and its changes over time. Modern research indicates that he was the author of some images claimed and published by, among others, John Thomson and Wilhelm Burger.
