Francois Leroux
Francois Leroux (born April 18, 1970) is a former National Hockey League defenceman with the Edmonton Oilers, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Colorado Avalanche. A first-round draft choice of the Edmonton Oilers in the 1988 NHL Draft, Leroux played in 249 NHL games over parts of 9 seasons. At 6'6" and over 240 pounds, Leroux was a physical, defensive-minded defenceman who amassed 577 penalty minutes in his career.
Following his final season with Colorado in 1997-98, Leroux played in the International Hockey League, American Hockey League, and German Elite League.
One of Leroux's greatest feats during his NHL career was bloodying St. Louis Blues forward Tony Twist in a fight late in the 1995-96 season. Twist was considered by many to be the NHL's "heavyweight champ" at the time.
