Biography

A veteran of minstrel shows, vaudeville, and musical comedy, Frank Richardson reportedly made his first screen appearance in 1925. Richardson's talking picture bow came by way of the 1928 Vitaphone short The Joy Boy of Song. He was a fixture of Fox Studio's early talkie musical product, playing the comedy relief role of aspiring songwriter Eddie Rafferty in Sunny Side Up (1929) and guesting as "himself" in Happy Days (1930). Frank Richardson returned to the stage in the mid-'30s, retiring to his hometown of Philadelphia, where he died in 1962. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
