Biography

Enjoying a screen career that lasted from the mid-1910s until at least the early '60s, Japanese-born supporting actor and bit player Frank Tokunaga was very busy during the "Yellow Peril" period of the late 1910s, appearing in such melodramas as The Flower of Doom and the serials The Voice on the Wire (1917) and Man of Might (1919). Working steadily in bit roles, mostly unbilled, Tokunaga is today remembered for playing Mr. Omura in The Little Teahouse of the August Moon (1956) and the grandfather in the first U.S.-Japanese co-production The Big Wave (1961). ~ Hans J.
