Franziska Tarnow

Tarnow, Franziska (Güstrow, 1779-1862, Dessau), who wrote and was best known under the name Fanny Tarnow, was a governess but, after publishing her first novel Natalie, ein Beitrag zur Geschichte des weiblichen Herzens (1811), devoted herself to literature. Among her numerous novels Lilien (1821-3) and Lebensbilder (1824) were the most successful. Her selected works (Ausgewählte Schriften, 1830) occupy 15 vols.
