Flower, Frederick (1815-89), Scottish-born wine merchant and amateur photographer, active in Oporto, Portugal. He seems to have taken up photography c.1849, although most of his surviving calotypes were made in the years 1853-8; he apparently abandoned the medium in 1859. His work included social scenes, attractive bits of local scenery, and views of the Douro and its shipping. He moved finally to England in 1874 and died in London.
