Free-space display

Wikipedia: Free-space display

A free-space display is a device that projects images into a volume of free space (i.e., into an aerosol mixture such as fog or a gas). Commonly a set of lasers with rotating mirrors are used (a laser light show). Such displays have limited imaging capability but are 3D. Alternately a powerful projector may be focused on a narrow wall of suspended aerosol. This is much like a transparent projection screen, and is marketed for interactive displays.
