Friday Island

TV Series:

Friday Island

  • Release Year: 1962

Plot

Lillian Carlson and Walter Marsh starred on this quasi-comic Canadian series as the Grangers, who with their children Stephen (Mark De Coursey) and Tadpole (Kevin Burchett) moved from the hustle and bustle of Ottawa to a tranquil island off the coast of British Columbia. Here the Granger family hoped to open up a tourist lodge, but things didn't always go as smoothly as planned. One of the stumbling blocks to the Grangers' success was the preponderance of eccentric locals on the island, including a pair of warring shopkeepers who literally maintained a "border" between their businesses, replete with a painted line of demarcation. From the creators of the popular Tidewater Tramp, Friday Island was broadcast by the CBC from October 19, 1962 to April 12, 1963. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
