Fox Sports South (formerly FSN South) is a regional sports network that airs sports programming in the Southern United States. It is part of the larger Fox Sports Net group of regional sports networks. The network carries professional and collegiate sports coverage from across the region, along with other sporting events and programming from FSN.

History
Fox Sports South had its origins as the Turner Broadcasting System network SportSouth. It was purchased by News Corporation's Fox Cable group in 1996 and re-named Fox Sports South. In 2004 it became FSN South.
Fox Sports South formerly produced the Southern Sports Report in their Midtown Atlanta studios, when the "regional sports reports" were a prime focus of the collective FSN networks. Other FSN networks also received their local sports reports from the Atlanta studios, often with the same hosts (Terry Chick being the most prominent). The Southern Sports Report was discontinued in 2005, and FSN South produced a similar program, Around The South, that focuses on sports stories in and across the region. It has been replaced by FSN Final Score.
Ironically, Fox Sports South's original name SportSouth is now the name of its sister network. Like Fox Sports South, that network (which was originally named Turner South) was originally owned by Turner and sold to Fox to become part of the FSN group.
Viewing area
The viewing area includes Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It is, by far, the largest FSN network by area and viewership. As such, the feed is often broken down into several sub-regional feeds for the purposes of adhering to the "home turf" rules belonging to the various professional leagues. For example, Memphis Grizzlies and Nashville Predators games are only seen in Tennessee, most of Kentucky, northern Mississippi, and northern Alabama, while Charlotte Bobcats games are only seen in North Carolina. Neither are seen in the remaining portions of Fox Sports South's coverage area, though Predators games occasionally re-air in North Carolina.
In October 2008, Fox decided to break up Fox Sports South into three separate feeds to offer more localized coverage to subscribers, dubbed Fox Sports Carolinas and Fox Sports Tennessee.[1] FSN bills these feeds as separate networks from the main Fox Sports South feed, which only serves Georgia and most of Alabama, Kentucky and Mississippi. Fox Sports South has 2 overflow feeds on DirecTV, to avoid additional coverage conflicts.
Fox Sports Carolinas
Fox Sports Carolinas serves 4 million people in North and South Carolina. It produces games of the Charlotte Bobcats (NBA), and the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL). It also features Atlantic Coast Conference basketball and non-revenue sports. [1] The Bobcats are available in limited areas of North and South Carolina that are in close proximity to Charlotte.
Fox Sports Tennessee
Fox Sports Tennessee serves 1.8 million people in Tennessee, northern Alabama, and northeastern Mississippi. It produces games of the Memphis Grizzlies (NBA) and Nashville Predators (NHL). It also carries the Cincinnati Reds (MLB) (via Fox Sports Ohio), the St. Louis Cardinals (MLB) (via Fox Sports Midwest) and Southeastern Conference sports.[1]

Branding
Fox Sports South
A small logo bug appears on the top right screen during regular programming. For most programs (including nationally-televised sports) the logo reads FSSOUTH, with the FS colored in light blue. During local sporting telecasts, however, the logo changes. During Thrashers hockey games, the logo changes to FSTHRASHERS, with the FS in a yellow-orange color. For Hawks basketball games, the logo becomes FSHAWKS, with the FS shown in red. As for Braves baseball games, the logo is FSBRAVES, with the FS also colored in red. These localized logo bugs are also seen during each team's Live pre- and post-game shows.
Fox Sports Tennessee
Just like with Fox Sports South, regular programming and nationally-broadcast games uses a standard logo - in this case, FSTENNESSEE. For Grizzlies basketball games and Grizzlies Live, the logo changes to FSGRIZZLIES, with the FS taking on a smoke blue color. For Predators hockey games and Predators Live, the logo turns to FSPREDATORS, with the FS shown in yellow.
Fox Sports Carolinas
During regular programming and national sporting events, the logo reads FSCAROLINAS. During Bobcats basketball games and Bobcats Live, the logo becomes FSBOBCATS, with the FS colored in orange. As for Hurricanes hockey games and Hurricanes Live, the logo is shown as FSHURRICANES, with the color of FS being red.
