Biography

Führs & Fröhling were two-thirds of the eclectic German group Schicke Führs Fröhling that continued recording after that band broke up in 1979 upon the departure of drummer Eduard Schicke. The all-instrumental band featured guitarist Heinz Fröhling and keyboardist Gerhard Führs. Recording without a drummer, the duo produced more ambient and stripped-down sounds than their parent band, often with striking acoustic guitar from Fröhling. Occasionally lacking, occasionally brilliant, the band's first album, Ammerland, was released in 1978. The band added drums (some of which were played by Führs) on their sophomore effort, Strings (1979), which saw them tone down the more progressive sounds of their previous album for experiments in a variety of genres. Dairy (1981) was the duo's final effort and saw them move back toward their roots. ~ Geoff Orens, All Music Guide
