G-Phoria is an annual video game awards show started in 2003 and produced by G4. The awards are democratically voted on.
Formerly the event was formatted like a regular awards ceremony taped in front of an audience, featuring celebrities such as Hal Sparks, Carmen Electra, Wilmer Valderamma and Anna Nicole Smith, and musical performances, along with a red carpet preview show, and some game premieres. However in 2006, the show was significantly downgraded likely because of derision by videogame media and fans about the previous awards shows[citation needed], as well as the network's shift away from a full 24-hour channel about video games and towards an all-encompassing male pop culture focus, and control of the show was given over to X-Play, which made it a pure viewer's choice show hosted by Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb.
